Exploring Austria Beyond the Clichés: ERASMUS+ Students Visit the Salzwelten Hallein
As part of the course “Discovering Austria beyond the clichés,” our ERASMUS+ students embarked on an unforgettable excursion to the Salzwelten Hallein – one of the world’s oldest salt mines and a true hidden gem of Austrian heritage.
Equipped with helmets and a spirit of adventure, the group ventured deep into the historic tunnels to learn about the 2,500-year-old history of salt mining in the region. The tour offered a perfect mix of education and fun, with multimedia exhibits, an underground salt lake boat ride, and the highlight for many – the thrilling wooden slides used by miners in the past.
Beyond its historical significance, the excursion fostered cross-cultural exchange and provided students with a deeper, more authentic understanding of Austria. It was a day full of laughter, discovery, and connection – proving once again that Austria has so much to offer.
Exploring Austria together, beyond the clichés – mission accomplished!
